the only truly walkable part of north jersey is hoboken. i've lived there 8 years without a car. however, you're going to run into the price problem again. you'd probably only be able to buy a 1BR.

yeah, i'm sure that's true too. i don't know JC as well. but this guy would be wasting his time trying to live in a suburb without a car. you may be able to walk to a nyc bus, but how would you get everywhere else?

I would suggest downtown Jersey City- it's very up and coming- has lots of restaurants, public transportation options (train, bus, etc) so that you don't need a car and great views of the city and Liberty State Park if you were looking into condos in Jersey City, such as Liberty Harbor.
There are condos, single family townhouses, and rentals in your price range available in this community and in my experience, a low amount of crime by this area. There is diversity in the area, with the food options, people, and events that go on in the area (including live music at bars- especially since Hoboken is right around the corner).
I hope this helps a little!

Man I've never seen so many posts trying to push Jersey City . Since this is obviously a Real Estate Agent I have a question, is JC filling up all those condos downtown or is the reason for all these posts because they're not selling as well as expected? Just curious because im not to on par with whats going on now in the market. I know some of the buildings have got a decent amount of buyers/renters but theres also alot that look pretty vacant.

I don't believe nycareerpro is a real estate agent. Real estate in Downtown JC (and Hoboken as well) has been largely unaffected by the real estate downturn. The condos are selling well.
