That is sold primarily on the west coast.... California mainly....

I was on the same search as you my friend... (although I grew up here, when I go to CA I always have it)...

I found your answer: TRADER JOES! They don't sell the actual cut, they sell the pre-seasoned meat but still VERY GOOD!

Yes, Restaurant Depot is on E. Wesley Street in S. Hackensack, right where the old "Staples Advantage" building used to be.

The tri-tip is a cut of beef from the bottom sirloin primal cut.[1] It is a small triangular muscle, usually 1.5 to 2.5 lbs. (675 to 1,150g) per side of beef. In the United States, this cut was typically used for ground beef or sliced into steaks until the late 1950s, when it became a local specialty in Santa Maria, California, rubbed with salt, pepper, and spices and cooked whole on a rotisserie or grilled. (The tri-tip is still often labeled "Santa Maria steak".) Tri-tip is now available in most of the U.S., though it remains a relatively overlooked cut. Most popular in the Central Coast region of California,[

At almost any portuguese/brazilian butcher or grocery store in the Newark/Kearny area. Make a trip and stock up your freezer.

Mmmmmm, tri-tip!!! Spent a weekend in California playing golf with a buddy and he was most concerned in marinating, cooking, and serving this cut of meat. It was really good. I've never seen it for sale on the east coast. Guess I haven't looked in the right places.
