Hey!

My cousin and I found a house in Bloomfield that we are VERY interested in purchasing...after searching and being let down for the past 3 months we really think this one is it. However after reading a few of the posts here and not knowing the area I am not sure if this is on a good street. The house is one Lawrence and Dodd. Any info? Also she has a son that will be going into second grade, I am usure of what Public School he would be zoned to...any info? Other then that is there any night life in Bloomfield, I work as a waitress/bartender part time in addition to my 9-5 and would like to continue to do so when I move...any info?

All replie are much appreciated....thanks!!

Lawrence and Dodd That area was not nice when I left Bloomfield in 1996, worse now. The elementary school would be Watsessing for that area.

no no no – In a nutshell, though it’s in Bloomfield, that area is really more like the ‘better’ part of East Orange which I’m sure no one here would recommend especially if you have children.

I’m in Bloomfield in the St Val’s section and would suggest that you stick to areas nearest Nutley/Montclair though it will cost you more it's not only safer but a better investment - some parts of Belleville may work too. As far as nightlife - well, I wouldn't call it that - there's much more to do in Montclair but very few places with liquor licenses and the one's that are corporate (charlie browns, the office) don't pay that great. For bartending jobs in the area, I would look at Clifton since they have more than a few drinking spots and also Clifton Commons - corporate as well but more volume. Within Bloomfield - the best I can think of is Senioritas though I’m sure others here will have more recs. For waitressing jobs, I'm sure you could find something in Montclair since there are so many restaurants (but few parking spots).

Good luck with your decision!
