Default Townhouse built in 2004 - very high taxes: worth getting reassessed in this market?

I believe when they decided the taxes on this place in 2004/2005, the value of our townhouse was much more. Now that we are trying to sell, the taxes are a real turn-off to people (higher than most others in our development).

There's no way they would RAISE our taxes if I went through this process, given it was assessed in 2004/2005 - right?

I believe you missed your window to appeal your taxes. You typically have to have your appeal in by April but I would call the assessor for your township just to make sure.

Yep you missed it for this year unless they mailed your tax bill late..in which case you have 45 days from the date it's mailed to appeal. Also you should know that you have to prove your property value should be 15% lower then it is assessed for them to even have to do anything.
