Why do people make it out to be that living in "rural" NNJ is such a bad thing? I mean, for crying out loud, the city is only about an hour away it's not like we're living in Kansas or Iowa!

Whenever I invite my attorney pal from Chatham to come and visit... she tells everyone she's going out to Ohio for the day..lol : ) I don't get that whole need to live in the Northeast thing.... it's like living like a rat!!! Whenever I have to drive out that way for work...I have such a bad attitude by the time I get home. It's just nuts to want to deal with that everyday!

it's a bad thing if, by living out here, your commute sucks eggs and drains your wallet.

It's a trade off IMHO, but my point is I rather live a bit further away from the city and have a bit more for my $$ as far as property, taxes are high in the whole state so you're going to pay no matter what, but I like the idea of not having to listen to my neighbor's loud music at 1am or starting his motorcyle ride at 8am (can't remember who started that thread) yet I have the ability to go into the city or anywhere if I want to go shopping, restaurants and etc, etc, etc...you catch my drift I'm sure.

yes, i do, i live out here as you know! having been a commuter (not all that much lately however) for nearly 20 years, I can completely relate with someone not wanting to drive far and be willing to sacrifice house size and land for more "home" time. i think that's why some ppl may think NWNJ is "bad" (bad being relative, of course!!!)...

My friends from Bloomfield/Montclair say I live in the boonies. One went apple picking in Chester and told everyone she went out to the country for the day. I live near Route 80, kind of halfway between NY and PA and have plenty of shopping, restaurants, etc. I like seeing trees and undeveloped fields.

You do live in the sticks out there. But one things for sure, you got some really good secret fishing holes out there. My brother lives your way and took me to some places where we parked and walked through the woods only to come upon a little pond with nothing around but trees.

Let me try my memory. I remember a road called Revene Rd. It ran along a creek and what great Trout fishing there. It was your exit. You hardly feel like your in Jersey out there.

I'm trying to think where that is??? Exit 19 right? But you're right..we do have some great fishin' holes and tons of streams, brooks, rivers to fish in as well. What Twp. is your brother in?

I pass your exit on the way to Mt. Airy Casino. I'm off exit 26.
