Anyone live in Clayton, NJ (Gloucester County)? (Glassboro, Williamstown: houses, buy)

My family and I are looking to move into Gloucester County and we came across a few nice developments in Clayton, NJ. Not really sure of the area. I have 2 young children 6 & 2 and one of my children is special needs so I need to make sure the school district is very good. Anyone live here? Your comments would be appreciated.

The area is not known for having a good school district. I would consider other towns such as Washington Township, Sewell, Cherry Hill, Marlton.

I'd also suggest Woolwich which is also in the Kingsway Regional School district (Swedesboro Woolwich district for elementary)

Houses have always been affordable there, even by the standards of Gloucester County. Unfortunately, the schools are by some standards (percentage of graduates who go to college, etc.) the worst in the area.

You have always been able to get great buys on homes in Clayton, as far as I can remember.

Just found out about the Villages at Aberdeen and I'm wondering how it stacks up to other 55+ communities in S. Jersey. I never heard of it before today. We've looked at Spicer Estates in Mullica Hill (kind of bland and no community center) and Four Seasons at Weatherby in Woolwich Township (great place, but the taxes are so high). We've also looked in Berlin and Williamstown areas, but the prices are high and Williamstown just didn't thrill us. Clayton was a wide spot in the road when I went to Glassboro State nearly 40 years ago -- can't say that I really remember much about it.

Anyone with info on the community, please let me know. I've tried calling the office but they are closed on Thursday and Friday and I'm planning my househunting for Saturday right now. Particularly interested in taxes and whether or not this is a true 55+ community. The builder advertises Aberdeen as both an active adult community and a multi-generational community. That's confusing.

If your looking in that area be sure to get a radon test if you buy there. I am a New Jersey DEP radon specialist and I pass by Kinsgway Regional frequently to install radon reduction systems in homes with excessive radon levels. Both East Greenwich and Woolwich are Tier One areas which are known for high levels......this highest house I ever mitigated (20 times the allowable levels) was in East Greenwich and 55% of the tests in Woolwich are high.

i live in clayton and i can't stand it here for special needs children. My son's school was about a 1/2 hr away and he was on the bus for 2 hrs in the morning and 2.5 hrs coming home.
Look into camden county schools.unfortunatly all the best schools are in n.nj and all your up north schools. Wallenpaupack,pa and lancaster,pa are all great schools. I came from ny and ma and they were the best
