Hello, we are moving from Orlando Florida so I am not very familier with northern NJ. My wife's job is relocating her to White Plains, NY and we are very unsure as to where to live. We have to live within 50 miles of White Plains as part of her job requirment.
We are currently looking at Oakland, NJ, Pompton Lakes, NJ area. We are also looking at Teaneck area as well. We are unsure as to what the best commute would be 287 over the Tappan Zee or GWB up to White Plains. Can anybody offer insight as to commute time on an average day.

We are looking to be under 400k on a 3+ bedroom 2+ bathroom home so that is why these areas seem to be best, if anybody has any other ideas that would be great.

Honestly, why Jersey? There are many lovely areas in Ct that would be a much better commute. I would hate to have to drive over the bridge every day (unless my hours were really off peak)

Do consider something on the same side of the Hudson river. No matter how you cut it, if you have to cross the river this commute will be a nightmare. Look in Westchester or even Putnam county. You'll be happier.

All of our family lives in some area of NJ everywhere from LBI to Pohatchong to Bloomfield, so we thought it would be better to live somewhere on the West side of the Hudson, but I guess not. I was also thinking that there would be more of a job selection for me in northern NJ, rather than somewhere upstate NY with more big companies corp headquarters located in NJ.
