Are there any public swimming lakes to go to instead of the ocean? the waves are still too much for the little ones. Would like to try something more calm. I've tried researching online, but it seems that some lakes are only for community residents?

Thanks.

Where are you located??? Swartzwood lake is great! You can rent sailboats, paddle boats, etc. Great day out with the kids and they also have camping facilities.

Here's another fun option for you. I see you are in Old Bridge... both Swartzwood and Land Of Make Believe are about an hour north for you. Land of Make Believe - Attractions

It use to be that you could pay and go visit Panther Lake........it also has picnic grounds. I don't know if that is still the case though. Off of 206 before the Andover area..........very nice, clean, and inviting ( if it still is open to the public) Panther Lake Camping Resort
It did have camping, but we were allowed to pay a daily fee and swim.....
