Nevermind. I just read a post on the BAD commute from Staten Island to anywhere.. and the struggle to get to the ferry.

I think I need to change jobs.

Honestly - the Staten Island ferry is a disgusting horror show.

You could move somewhere where she could pick up the Academy bus downtown. It will be close to water street where she can walk to the bus. It would avoid changing trains and buses. I'm not sure what the cost is now but it in the $200's. Old Bridge NJ comes to mind where you could pick the bus up at the park and ride. You also will not be far from Cranberry, NJ. Many apartments there within that price range.
