Hello All,

Wife and I have friday to ourselves after a long time - we also have 2 yr old son - live in Rahway, NJ - can you guys recommend something to do for the day - i know its july 4th and beaches are crowded but i m open to beach recommendation also as long as its not ridiculously crowded and/or bad traffic conditions. Any other activity would be fine as well. we are open to anything fun to do...let me know. thanks in advance.

This is something they've been doing for years in Maplewood. I've never been to the Circus but always went to the fireworks. Nice day of events it looks like. Maplewood isn't too far and you shouldn't hit much traffic.

If the weather is nice all the beaches will be crowded. If you want to miss the traffic try to leave by 7:30 am. A place like Pt. Pleasant or Seaside Heights will give you more options after your tired of the beach.

I've heard that the fireworks in Red Bank are great but I've never seen them.
