my husband and I with our 4 year old twins are moving to leonardo nj. can anyone tell me how the school system works?. are we restricted to neighborhood zoning? is there full day kindergarden? what neighborhoods can apply to navesink elementary? how are the elementary schools in leonardo? We have our kids in the best schools and enrichment programs in brooklyn and really need to put them in a full day kindergarden program in order to keep them challenged come next sept.Any suggestions?
Your input is much appreciated. thank you.

To clarify my last post- I failed to mention that we will be temporarily renting a house in leonardo NJ so that we can (be local to the area) & get to know middletown better before buying a home.

It's certainly not the best part of Middletown. It's near the bayshore, close to Keansburg, which is full of a certain breed of whites that would turn any well-meaning family off. The better parts of Middletown are further south like Nutswamp, Lincroft and Oak Hill. Middletown is pretty big and has its nicer and trashier parts. Leonardo is one of the trashier parts.

Leonardo is actually not so close to Keansburg. The schools are decent and the kids actually go to Middletown South HS. It's Port Monmouth that is closer to Keansburg.
I wouldn't go as far as calling it trashy. It's a pretty typical blue collar town but there are definitely professionals living there who take the ferry into NYC.
I'd call the schools for more specific info.
Good luck with your move! Middletown definitely has some beautiful areas! Also check out River Plaza, which is close to Red Bank but sends to Middletown South. It is more affordable than towns like Lincroft, Oak Hill, etc.

You're in the town where Clerks was filmed. You get to make pilgrimages to Quick Stop and RST Video!
