Black Forest is in Stanhope not Andover. Has the food gone downhill? I haven't been there in over a year.

along those lines, it's probably worth checking out the black forest inn. it's in the middle of that german area of northwestern nj and is (or was) generally considered to be one of the only decent german restaurants in the ny/nj area.

unfortunately, though, i've never had truly great german food anywhere in the area - nothing that compares to what i ate in germany or even wisconsin.
gotta agree here - best meal I had was in this hole in the wall in munich.

In Westwood (Bergen County) there is a German school for children and adults, so I would guess there is a strong German influence around that area.
The German Language School of Westwood - Herzlich Willkommen!

There is a pretty good German restaurant in Middletown, NY

Do they still do that there? I haven't been to it for a few years. The food was always mediocre...their beer s**ks. It's a fun time though, I just order mixed drinks.

Coming from someone that drinks Genny Cream Ale ! It's real beer they serve there..none of that Oxford Special Brew..lol : ) Hey, speaking of forgotten places to eat around here..I stumbled on one I use to eat at alot back in the day...It's in Hardwick. The food use to be great so I'll have to stop in again soon and see if it's still great. Can't remember the name off hand but I'll look it up. Great spot for you and BF to try. I'll find the name..BRB : )
