Hi. I will be moving in a few months to West Orange near Northfield Ave. and Shrewsbury Dr. Does anyone know about the commute to Manhattan from that area?? Should I drive to the Codey Arena and take the bus?? Drive to the PATH in Harrison?? Is there parking at the Orange or Highland Ave. NJ Transit station?? I would appreciate any advice. Thank You
South Mountain Arena (Codey Arena) isn't bad. There is a charter bus that goes directly to port authority in NY, and then the 73 goes to Newark Penn Station, where you can transfer to a train (my preferred method) - that will take you to NY Penn Station. Times vary - one time I was able to get there in about 45-50 minutes, another just slightly over an hour (was winter, and a train [if I remember correctly] had difficulties, thus slowing the rest of the trains down).
Yes there are parking at Highland and Orange stations. Its an easy commute. Just take the NJ transit. Takes about 45 minutes. And this week if you show your college ID, you get to ride for free. Hope that helps.
FreshFresh- Thanks for your reply. Do you currently commute at one of these stations???
Thaks
