Default Port Monmouth/Middletown, NJ

Hi folks -
We are looking at potentially buying a house in the Port Monmouth area. I am going to be commuting into NYC from there, and I wanted to know the best options for doing so. I was looking into the ferry, which looks ideal if not for the fact that I would likely have to take out a second mortgage along with the first to be able to afford to commute with it.

How are the buses? Does anyone know how regular/crowded they get? I would be looking to get into the city regularly by about 9:30am or so.

Any help and insight would be wonderful. Thanks

Hey,
Will you be right off of Route 36? If so, buses to the Port Authority run along 36. There are bus lots on 36 for you to park. If you are commuting to the Wall Street area, I believe you have to go to Cheasequake rest stop. You could also go to the Port Authority out of Chasequake - buses run frequently out of cheasequake.

If it is near 36 there is also a bus to Wall Street. The Port Authority buses run more often and are faster because they use the Lincoln Tunnel. If you're using Academy their schedules have been accurate (or earlier) for me so far. It isn't a bad ride at all if you are able to doze off or like to read. We made sure to buy a house that was walking distance to the bus to make it easier. I only looked into the buses so I can't help with the trains. I'd love to take the ferry too!
