NJNJNJ is on a distinguished road
Default Bridgewater and Berkeley Heights

My husband and I were mainly looking for a home in Northern Bridgewater, but ended up buying in Berkeley Heights. Even though everyone is saying it is a buyer's market, we were outbid twice in Bridgewater (Martinsville area) and the house we purchased in BH, was on the market for 5 days and that was bidding war with two other families. We are very excited about our new home, I am just very surprised by my friend's reactions that we bought in BH. They keep saying BH is much better than Bridgewater and we should have been looking there in the beginning. I am aware the school system is better and less congestion in BH, but I am really surprised people's positive reaction to Berkeley Heights. Is it that great of a town? I really liked the northern part of Bridgewater as well....

Generally people prefer the towns where they live and embellish a little about how much better their town is than the others.

Bridgewater vs Berkely Hights IMO is a draw.

Berkeley Heights was built by Bell Labs... sort of.....it's just a saying. Maybe half its residents work there. Many work for Lucent Tech but that company is dieing a very slow death with limited life left. You have the wonderful Watchung Reservation nearby. Make sure you visit it. I haven't been there in a while but I hope they didn't trash that place too.

BH is much higher priced then Bridgewater so Im not sure why anyone is comparing it in that way. If your heading to that aweful NY the commute is a little better from BH. Either one gives easy access to Rt22 which has everything and anything you will ever need. Bridgewater has a nice mall.

That's a few major differences I can think of.

Good luck in your new house.
