Looking to make the move to Flemington
Greetings folks, hope that this finds everyone well. My husband, young daughter and I are thinking of making the move to Flemington, NJ from NYC. My husband will commute to NY Penn Station. Where is the nearest train? Is it very far from Flemington? May I have a little more information about elementary schools in the area (I saw a previous post)? Also, would people be so kind as to relay a few thoughts about Flemington and the surrounding areas (grocery shopping, etc.)? Will city folk like us feel lost? LOL! I am also a stay at home Mom at the moment, so would love to hear about potential activities/Mom groups, etc. Many thanks in advance for your replies!

I was in Flemington the other day..what a cute town! You won't feel isolated as many NYCers go there on the weekend to shop at the outlets ; ) I think they have a train station right there but I'm not 100% sure. Try NJ Transit's website. No way would he want to drive..it's a hike! Plenty of shopping. The stores aren't as "posh" as the stores you would find in NY but they'll do : ) Regarding school systems, I believe they attend hunterdon schools? Is so, they are great school systems.

Flemington is a little far for a NY commute. The nearest train station (Raritan Valley Line)is in Whitehouse Station about 15 min from Flemington. You will have to switch trains in Newark and take the PATH to Manhatten.
Flemington is a great area to live but the long commute, at least 2 hrs. door to door could turn your dream into a nightmare.

Agree with this. Flemington is a nice area but not great for getting to NYC. It is a suitable location for commuting locally in central NJ and some northern NJ areas.

Flemington
I agree about the distance to NY. I live in nearby Hopewell--also a lovely little town, and the schools are very safe and top rated. Maybe you should look into West Windsor which is on the border of Princeton. Everyone in that area easily commutes to NYC--and the WW school systems are tops! Also, you will find plenty of activities for moms and families. Good luck!
