Alpine Mansions: OMG!
I took a little detour on my way home from upstate NY and wandered around Alpine, NJ. My jaw is still dropped tothe ground. O-M-G, one house is bigger than the next. I've never seen such massive mansions in my life and so many of them. We may be in a recession, but not those people. Incredible!

The rich are the rich. They live on a different planet where 100K is nothing to worry about.
I have a friend who loves Vegas. He has a friend who is a "high roller" at the Flamingo which is itself NOT a high roller casino. My friend got to attend the dinner for the high rollers. Table 1 was the biggest high roller. Table 2 the next highest etc etc.
My friend was seated at table 110 and that guy lost 400K that weekend!

Largest private estate in NJ is in Moorestown, ex Commerce Bank CEO Vernon Hill's 'Villa Collina' which is about 45,000 square feet on 40 acres. Local real estate experts say the only sales comps are on the west coast. It is slightly bigger than Bill Gates estate.

40 empty acres in Far Hills probably valued at more than the Mansion and acres in Moorestown.
E
BTW Moorestown is probably a very nice place to live if you have to live in South Jersey

LOL - just what I was thinking! Nothing in NJ can touch Alpine in terms of housing $$$.

My old CEO lives in Alpine and had his yearly Holiday Party at his estate before he sold it and moved to Roslyn out on the Island. That place is an unreal town. Totally mind blowing, very beautiful, extremely exclusive and just plain pristine.
I don't know about you guys, but if I was in the market for a 3mm home, New Jersey would not be on my list of places to buy.

Just telling you what the facts are. I've been all over the state including northern NJ, nothing compares to Moorestown, except maybe Princeton, but there are some very nice towns in central and northern NJ. Certainly some of the affluent NYC burbs are more expensive.

I know what you mean, I was in the car with my daughter driving through Franklin Lakes the other day and she said "Why are there so many malls out here." I was like "There are no malls" the homes are so big she though they were malls! LOL They were HUGE.
We were actually going to a Church, Blessed Sacrament I think, and she was like "The Church is smaller than the homes." LOL

I remember when I moved to Medford, this home was just being finished. Vernon Hill is a car collector, and I remember hearing that he was having twin car garages flanking either side of the house, and they were to garage 60 of his cars. His initial property tax bill was rumored to be in excess of 100,000 bucks.
