Moving to Manahawkin N.J.
My wife and I are considering moving to Manahawkin N.J. in the near future and we would like to know if someone can recommend any particular neighborhoods. I read somewhere that The Oaks of Stafford is suppose to be nice. Can you tell me anything you know about this area as well as any others that we can look at. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me. Thank You, Mike.

Mike, my husband and I moved out of Manahawkin 5 yrs ago to go out of State. We raised our children there and it was a wonderful town.
What is your price range. Stafford Oaks is a very nice community. Quite a few Stafford Twp. police officers bought in that sub-division. If you want the water or lake, Colony Lakes off of Mill Creek road is very desirable. We lived in Ocean Acres down the street from the hospital. If you want to go to LBI on a weekend leave very early in the morning, bumper to bumper traffic on Rt. 72--one way in, one way out. Go on line on Thurs. and read the Times Beacon Manahawkin Newspaper and Sundays The Press of Atlantic City. Where are you relocating from?
Good luck to you and your family. It is a buyers market now.

Hi!
Don't mean to butt in, but I think this is the hospital mentioned:
SOUTHERN OCEAN COUNTY HOSPITAL (MANAHAWKIN, NJ) Detailed Hospital Profile
We lived about 20 min. north of Manahawkin, and had to go to this hospital a few times.

I grew up in Manahawkin and still have family there. Actually, I just came back from 3 weeks up home.
Good luck in your search!

Hi Everyone, Kathy:
Yes So. Ocean County Hospital, Rt. 72 and Nautilus Dr., Manahawkin. Good hospital, our dil is an OR Nurse there about 10 years and loves it. There are a lot of opportunities there. A lot of homes for sale, (in fact the one we sold 5 yrs. ago is up for sale again) relocation, 4 bd., 2 1/2 ba., I believe $255,000. The area has certainly grown since 911. When our kids were growing up we had to go 40 mins. north or south to get to any major stores, now they are all in Manahawkin. Check out Tuckerton/LEH also a little less expensive and 15 mins. So. of Manahawkin. We saw a wonderful 55+ community called Cranberry Creek in Tuckerton. If you would like any detailed information you can email me directly. I know what it is like trying to relocate long distance, and when we were doing this I didn't have this great forum.

 Hi Kelsie,
Thanks for the info....but a few questions come to mind.....Are Ocean Acres and the Oaks at Stafford subdivisions? and do they have HOA with club houses and such? If so what was your experiences with them.....Look forward to your response...
Thanks

Sorry Kathy, I just saw your message.
The Oaks of Stafford is just the name of the development that is contained in all of the Ocean Acres section of Manahawkin. There are so many different developments within themselves all over Manahawkin, all with different names, ie. Atlantic Hills, Colony Lakes etc. We did not have a HOA. When we left there were not too many HOA in the area. Most of the developments were put up by certain builders as individual homes.
OA Country Club off Lighthouse Dr., in Ocean Acres had a great pool and golf course. I am not sure if they still have the pool. I heard that they may have gotten rid of it. However, there is OA lake in that area.
I hope I answered your questions, if I can help you with anything else just let me know.
I know how overwhelming a long distance move can be. Do you have school age children?

Manahawkin: All of Ocean Acres is west of the GSP. East of the GSP you have all the waterfront(lagoon for the most part) properties, Downtown Manahawkin, Deer Lake Park area, Beachview area. If you try www.myjerseyshorehome.com it will give you everything. Hope this helps
