It's not a disdain for the rich... it's a disdain for those who really don't give a rats @ss about anyone but themselves... I really have no problem with my tax $ going to give a child a life saving operation if they don't have the money or insurance for it. And I don't even care *gasp* if that child is illegal... because a child is a child. A human is a human. It's not all about $$$$ all the time... he who dies with the most toys DOES NOT WIN. I'd rather bail out a poor family than a greedy, corrupt corporation ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. But that's just me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not poor. I'm not rich either. I can't beleive what it takes financially to live around here some days... and I don't love paying taxes... but it's a necessary evil. I've never had a hand out - ever. I have worked since I'm 15 and I'm not for enabling people to be on welfare or anything like that.

BUT when we have had a President who has DESTROYED our country to levels that would have been unimaginable 8 years ago I am NOT willing to put someone who is legislatively on par with him in again... no way in hades. Sometimes VISION can outweigh EXPERIENCE. As far as I see McCain has been in Washington a long time and is just a long time part of everything that is wrong... any candidate is a gamble... I'm willing to roll the dice rather than face a certain dismal future.
you've just said what I always say.. thannnkkkkk uuuuuuuu
until everyone gets on the same page and accepts that we are all on the same team here and need to look out for each other, nothing will ever get accomplished. That the "greatest" (and I use that term VERY lightly) country in the world has people who refuse and abhor the thought of all of us having universal health care, is sickening.

wmd? please, we didn't even find a bottle of asprin there.
the war is a joke
4000+ kids are dead for NOTHING
and now with the pending oil contracts going no bid and (by golly) going to US companies, it proves the initial point of everyone who was against this farce from day one: it's ALL about the oil

Absolutely not. When one takes into strong consideration the FALN pardons by her husband (for sake of her first campaign), in a post 9/11 era (which happened literally in our back yards), there's no way the people of NJ as a whole could elect a person with such hefty baggage to a position which also holds the role and responsibility as "Commander and Chief".

I bet hardly anyone here knows what the FALN pardons were. The media did a good job of keeping it under wraps (then and now). It was a real slap in the face by the Clinton camp to americans who perished in 9/11 and in the line of service (as well as their families and loved ones).

Let's hope McCain wins, that its very close, and that Newark does not burn (as a result).

Meh.

They were not convicted of murder, bombing, etc, etc. They were convicted for robery and possession of weapons, and served sentences way longer than normal for these crimes. This was they reason Carter and Nobel laureates asked Clinton for the pardons.

Similar claims and misinterpretations could be made for most presidential pardons throughout history.

---------

EDIT: Btw, Hillary was opposed to their pardon, you know. (And by no stretch of the imagination should this be taken to assume that I liked Hillary as a choice either).

You took the words right out of my mouth.... all Presidential pardons at the end of their terms are suspect...I'm sure King George will have a few interesting ones too (outside of Scooter Libbey, of course....)

I think Hillary would have taken NJ easily and I think Obama will as well. NJ is the NorthEast... I'm all for the NE succeeding from the Union!

Via VT (versus NH)? You maybe would want to toss in NoVA too, heh? Drive tin cans and pay $8/gal. for gas (aka petrol)? And more taxes heh?

Hey, let me tell you - I have a friend who is in the States due to work... he doesn't HATE it, but he is not loving it. He is from Denmark. His taxes would make ours look like the deal of a lifetime...and he said he'd rather live there than here any day of the week. His healthcare is taken care of, schooling is taken care of, you have guaranteed vacation time even at a brand new job... he said the quality of life is 10x better and no one is kililng themselves the way we do here.

Of course Denmark doesn't have to finance a debacle in Iraq....

aren't the danish generally considered the happiest people? they pay high taxes, get A LOT for these taxes, which gives them a very high quality of life which in turn equates to happiness. things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

i don't get why some people think anything "not american = bad" (well, unless it oppresses a certain group of people, then it's something we should adopt). we as a country can learn A LOT from other nations on how to treat our citizens without sacrificing our way of life, but there's this "backlash" that we'll GASP! become the FRENCH or something ! (for example) LOL
