NC little foot has a spectacular aura aboutNC little foot has a spectacular aura aboutNC little foot has a spectacular aura aboutNC little foot has a spectacular aura about
All my friends and family in North Jersey alway's called it Taylor Ham. I grew up in Central Jersey and it was always called both. When I moved to South Jersey in my 20's the only way it was listed on the menu's from the diners and deli's here was Porkroll, egg and cheese on a hard roll. So with having to order it this way, it stuck. My friend Sharon who now lives in South Jersey but is from Harrison always calls it Taylor Ham. When the waitress says you mean Porkroll? Sharon says it's called Taylor Ham, I don't know where you people came up with Porkroll! I dont care what you call it just bring it. She was funny.

I can't order porkroll egg and cheese, or Taylor ham and cheese on hard roll anymore, but, I do make sure I pick up the 6lb. roll at Bj's here. That and having my mom bring down some nice Jersey hard rolls when she comes to visit. It works. I believe there is a difference in what you call it depending on what part of Jersey your from. It's all good.

Before I moved, when Pathmark had it on sale for 99 cents, I'd load up my shopping cart with the little six oz Case "tangy" version, which to me, is just as good! Taylor also made "Trenton Ham" which seemed to be the mild version. A friend at work bought me "Google Ham" also made by Taylor which tasted too much like plain old ham! My sister, who came to visit in April brought down about 20 of those little six oz boxes with a Shoprite label. They were the mild version, but beggars can't be choosers and I happily ate them all. I suspect they were OEM'ed by Case. This stuff whether you call it Taylor Ham or pork roll is one of the best examples of "real Jersey food".

I may have to break down and order a 6 pound roll of it off the internet. I can only go so long without it!
No! do not order it online. I did this once. They charged me about $70.00 for 1 large "tangy" roll and 1 six pound roll of the Mild, and the expiration date expired in 2 weeks. Then, I went to Bj's here in NC and they sell the 6 lb. mild roll for $15.00. I felt so stupid. Don't do what I did. Also, Lowes foods and Harris Teeter sell those 6oz. boxes in their stores. But the BJ's deal is much better.

You won't find it. My aunt (NJ native) has been living in Tennessee for about 15 years now and still gets regular shipments of pork roll and Tastycakes.

Definitely Taylor Ham. My parents owned a luncheonette in Newark for over 20 years and it was ALWAYS Taylor Ham.

My brother was thrilled when after years he finally found in Florida.
