i was born and raised in union city and it's not a bad town. the thread is not in a bad area, but lincoln tunnel traffic is not cool. many times i've been stuck on a bus back from the port authority in that area.

i've never heard of that altessa building but i looked at where it was and i don't recommend it! kerrigan and summit ave are not cool especially at night. it's also a few blocks away from an area in union city that my friends in grammar school used to call 'rape central' :-\

and don't knock the dominicans, they know how to do hair!!!

LIC didnt really change much, i was just there looking at those 500k (reduced from 750k) condos, the buildings are ok but the area is still ghetto. With old subways running above ground, vandalism everywhere, and just looks rundown.

Only reason downtown JC changed is because of the MASSIVE buildup of all the financial firms from nyc after 9/11. You name it,every single one of them came to jc waterfront, as a result luxury condo and area redevelopment followed. And this is still only true inside the small downtown bubble of jc. Most of the area in jc is still crap.

Hoboken is a success story.

i just dont see it happening to UC, if anything JSQ path is probably the next bet if i had to make a bet. But good luck, just watch where you go after dark.

I guess there are different area of LIC. The area you are speaking of is more Astoria. The LIC I know and lived in, is the area right next to the midtown tunnel. Great place that used to be very scary.

Of course, the sales there are not so great right now, as the majority of buildings launched their sales right at the beginning of the downturn. But the rentals there are ridiculously nice.

I am betting on UC being the same thing. Pretty big bet, too, as it will be my home for the foreseeable future!

Avoid this place! It's next to one of the busiest highways in America. Traffic and congestion is horrible. Management doesn't know what they're doing. You'll regret moving here! If you want to live in Union City, anywhere but here.

So, how do you like Union City - I assume you've moved in. Do you have any friends looking for new condos in Union City? I'm marketing a brand new building on New York Ave. The condos are beautiful and ready for occupancy in 2 months.

I'd appreciate your respond in any case, because I'd like some consumer input into the new condo market in UC.
