If everyone spent just a bit of time trying to help the kids worth helping there would be fewer "failures". He is not a bottomless pit of need. His parents are first gen immigrants, they probably dont have a clue.
btw, do you know what school he is looking at?
I think it's great you are trying to help him.
These days people are so into looking out for themselves, it's nice to see someone who still cares.

I hate to see winners lose due to semi external factors. His parents are working class but they are overextended.

I dont do this for just anyone but the kid is a winner. He shows up every day, closes his dept etc.

Compared to the kid we got the above kid is a diety. Ours does not show up 2-3x a week and does it when he is scheduled alone. This means whoever opens for him gets a 12 hour day. If we leave the dept unmanned the mgr will add people. As commission sales we dont want more bodies dividing an already shrinking pie. We even told our loser kid we dont care if he comes in (more for us) EXCEPT when he is alone. He still didnt show up. I think they finally got around to firing him this week.

I wouldnt lift a finger to help the loser kid.

Way to go clueless!

Let me fill you in on something....being involved in media is different than being an actor on TV or the next Spielberg. I'm in the audiovisual design industry, many of my coworkers went to film school. Every school, every conference room, every major facility utilizes audiovisual technologies which you learn about at these types of schools.

Small industry? Sure! But its just one of the many offshoots.

So here's a great idea. Stop typing. You have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to billion-dollar a year companies in industries you didn't know existed.

Yeah he was lucky but has paid his dues more times than can be counted. Are you a tad bitter, Giant Rutgers fan?

Just saying that this kid doesnt seem smart at all. He could easily just wait tables at a restaurant, be a bartender, or something like that and make much more money then working for $8 an hour at K-Mart.

But he already cant figure that much and is working probably the worst job out there. Then he wants to go to film school, which is a long shot to find a career in and many employers dont take it seriously...

Based on the latest reply, I would say "ignorant" is more appropriate than "bitter". Oh well, theres always one

New York Film Acadamy is where he is trying to go.
Gave him the links last night.
Thanks all.

LOL he is such a kid still, 20! Not so far apart we both like Youtube. Far enough apart there is no music in common tho. We both like the Kermit video. Guess we are both sick puppies.
