NO IDEA! They have it all spelled out as to how much is going to what department in the city but no reason as to WHY the increase. When I had my last talk with the Tax Assessor about why my taxes went up after closing one of the officers in the municipal complex had to come over to calm things down. We finally got it all straightened out but I am not looking forward to talking to him again.

Did your assessment go up on your house? Did you do any improvements which required permits with the town?

the only real improvements ive done is paint and clear the hedges and garbage off the property. I'll see what they say when I show up there tomorrow morning.

Let me guess something else Hobokenguy: GF has lived in NJ most, if not all her life, and most, if not her entire family is there? And she wouldn't want to leave them?

Nope, she's from Erie, PA, but she's a TV producer for one of the big cable news outlets, so this is top of the food chain for her. This will be a very tough sell.
