I finally signed up for MyRate. It should be interesting to see what happens. We only pay $70 a month now. I am not worried about Big brother, or progressive thinking I am awful because I go 3 over. I have a feeling progressive knows 3 or more over is normal.

I hardly drive at all. However I drive fast as hell. Even if I did drive slow and was the most responsible driver I wouldn't go for this. It's a violation of oyur privacy. Always amazes me how people are standing in line ready to give ups rights, privacy, etc.

What's next, health insurance companies using computers too monitor people's blood streams or the gov't putting cameras everywhere(including one in your eyeball) so they can make sure no one is breaking the law?

the biggest ripoff in vehicle insurance is the need to insure the vehicle, instead of the driver.

I own 3 vehicles, but obviously cannot drive all 3 at once !

You got a good point. I have 3 cars and work from home. Drove maybe 50 miles last week.

^Ditch the extra cars if you don't need them.

Hypothetically, someone can smash into the car that you parked on the street, speed up your driveway and ding up another one, and then get out and go to work on the other one with a crow-bar and get back in his car and drive off. This is one of the reasons why all of your vehicles need to be insured.

How is this a violation of privacy? It's voluntary.

Eh, I'm not a fan of it. I haven't gotten a ticket in years (only one in my driving life), have never been in an accident and stick to the fundamentals of avoiding an accident (lane discipline, etc.). But I like to drive with the flow of traffic, at a good clip. Unfortunately an insurance company might think going 80 in a modern German car on a modern highway is "unsafe." Screw that.

We as a society have to learn that speed is not evil and does not kill. Poor driving, however, does. It's just too bad our politicians force our LEOs to hide behind bushes and dole out tickets to people exceeding a number on a sign rather than enforce the myriad of other traffic violations that actually lead to accidents.

Everything starts out voluntary then enough people get on board and it becomes mandatory. Democracy in action! Everyone is enslaved to everyone else.

I have no problem with paying extra insurance for my classic sports cars. I also keep them inside and well protected. Since they are classics it's not terribly expensive, can't use them for doing shopping or work but then I wouldn't want to.
