Searching for birth records
I am searching for information about my birth father. I have been told that he was born in Atlantic City, NJ on 7/9/1932. I am unsure of the name of the hospital that existed at that time. I have been told that that name of the mother was of Irish descent (Leahy or Lawhey or something similar).
I am looking for anyone that may have information about the hospitals, adoptions, number of births during July of that year, procedures for adoption, possible births to an unmarried woman, etc.
I was also told that my father was adopted out of an agency or adoption home in Lawrenceville, NJ later that same year.
My father is now deceased and I am attempting to locate some information about his background due to a medical issue related to one of my children.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to have to send me a direct message as I am not allowed to post links for the sites I recommend due to them having their own forums. I've posted them in the people search section and had them removed by a mod.
I know that in the late 50's the "popular" adoption place was Catholic charities in Newark. From what I understand, they are not there any more. My mother gave up a son back then, I searched for 10 years, ended up finding him a few years ago. It's a little easier now to find them then it was when I started.

birth father search
Thanks for the response. I have not had much luck or response about my inquiry. Any info you can provide about adoptions back in the 30s, 40s or 50s would be a helpful starting point.

Atlantic City Medical Center was founded in 1898. A few years ago they changed their name to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center. I called their medical records department at (609) 441-8057. I was told they only keep birth records for 23 years. After that they are forwarded to the NJ State Vital Statisics office in Trenton, NJ.
Vital Statistics, NJ : birth certificates, death records, marriage records, civil union, genealogical requests, Jersey City birth certificates
