East Brunswick question
Generally I heard good things about East Brunswick, about their good schools, etc. But is there such a thing as good side and bad side of East Brunswick, in terms neighborhoods? I am looking for a townhouse in E.B. for around $250K and would appreciate any thoughts.

No, there's no "bad side" of East Brunswick. East Brunswick and South Brunswick are pretty "bad side" free. North Brunswick has a few iffy areas bordering on New Brunswick, and of course, New Brunswick has plenty of bad sides.
But East Brunswick is probably one of the better communities in Middlesex County.

Higher tax. Highest among all Brunswicks. Plus Rt 18 traffic during peak hours.

QFT, but East Brunswick also has the best services and schools of all the Brunswicks, so it's literally "you get what you pay for".
I ADORED the East Brunswick Library when I was a kid. I haven't been there in like, forever.

I will agree with you, there are little bad sections, if any in East Brunswick. It is a great town with great schools but your taxes are HIGH! Lived there for about 15 years and I saw them just go up and up!
Also at $250,000, you are going to have VERY LITTLE choice in a townhome in East Brunswick. You are probably going to be in one of three complexes in that range: Crosspointe, Society Hill, or Dunhams Court. Your best bet will probably be Society Hill as there are many more units that match your critera versus the other two complexes. Keep in mind that your taxes will probably be to be at least $4000 but more like $5000.

I just moved out of E.B. due to the high property taxes. But you really get what you pay for in property tax. E.B. trash pickup pretty much pick up everything you dump on the curb. I am in Manalapan now and they will only pick up household trash and that's pretty much it.
$250K is not enough for a Townhouse. I think you might able to get a condo in Kingswood Station for that much.

Thanks for all your responses.
DodgeViper mentioned three likely complexes: Crosspointed, Societly Hill, and Dunham Court. What about Timber Hollow? Is that out of my price range of around $250K? Is it considered more "upscale"?

I don't know how many BR's you're looking for, but if you're in the 250K range, you may want to look at Whispering Woods or Nassau Square in SOUTH Brunswick. Still a VERY good area, lower taxes and the schools are "on par" with East Brunswick. (For one thing, the High School is brand new, whereas EBHS has just undergone extensive renovation)
Just a suggestion.

That complex will tend to be out of your priced range. The complexes that I mentioned in terms of scale would go as follows:
Dunham Court
Crosspointe
Society Hill (Highest)
There are many other complexes but they do not offer entry level townhouses. I do not know if a condo might interest you but that would allow you to get into a newer and nicer complex like Kingswood Station/Country Woods. If you need help with anything else, don't hesitate to ask.

I understand that it normally takes about an hour by Bus to go to NYC from E.B., give or take. I work in Mid-town. However, South Brunswick might add another 30 minutes or so, maybe even longer during the return trip after work. But thanks for your comments, SweepTheLeg, anyway.
As far as Viper's recommendation, I do not want to live in a Condo, but much prefer a Townhouse where there is no tenants either up or down of you. I will start to look into Society Hill in E.B., thanks.
Is there a difference between Society Hill, Society Hill East, Society Hill II, etc. in E.B., as I have been seeing all these different names in various real estate sites? Are they pertain to different complexes?
