Question Where to go for BEERS

So, wanna take my hubby out for beers... want somewhere cool... with an EXCELLENT selection of beer (I'm a beer snob), maybe some outdoor seating, low-key live music (aka acoustic guitar), decent grub... in, around or near Cranford, Westfield area... Any ideas?

And if you go out west by me, Circa

Why won't he go to South Orange? This is smack dab in the town, right by the train station. In no way could it be perceived as dangerous, at worst (during the school year) you'll see a bunch of drunk college kids...

And not really, no. Those are the best beer snob places in the area, and they aren't far. There are bars that have variety (as in, not just Bud & Coors), but those are def. the place to go for true beer snobbery

This place is a bit of a hike for you, but well worth it (especially if you're a beer snob)...

Went there looking for houses once, drove through Irvington and now he has a bad taste in his mouth for the place.

Ok, what about cool places that maybe are not so beer snobbish... Maybe I could drink wine tonight.

Looks super cool... and my hubby being an Englishman, he'd love it, 45 miles is a bit of a hike.

Big difference from Irvington. My fiancee and her grad school (Seton Hall) friends used to hit Gaslight and Cryan's in South Orange practically every Tuesday night. Tell hubby he's overreacting.

Irvington <> South Orange :P

To get to South Orange from Cranford/Westfield, you'll want to go to Springfield, through Maplewood.

As far as not so beer snobbish....

Ferraro's (Westfield)
Sweet Waters (Westfield)

Arirang on 22 is also great (Mountainside)
