Hi,
We're considering buying a home on Park Ave very close to Springfield Ave but we're not sure on the location. We're not (currently) living in Maplewood so we're having a hard time gauging whether this location is good for commuting (it seems far from the train) and resale. What are the pros and cons of living in this area of Maplewood? Any comments on this location? Thanks, Lisa |

That area of town is just fine! There are great businesses on springfield avenue near the vauxhall/union borders. The houses there are mainly small colonials and park ave is just a quiet residental street.
Don't listen to anybody if they tell you that ALL of springfield avenue is dangerous and crime-ridden because it isn't. If you were buying a house next to springfield av close to the irvington border then I would be a little concerned but you are a good distance from where the 'girt' occurs, so don't be worried! You will enjoy maplewood and you can take a jitney or walk to the train station. |
