The funny thing is that most of priest sex scandals didn't involve "pedophiles" technically, as most of the victims were not young children, but teenage boys. Most of the pervert priests were just gay men who found teenage boys easy targets. That doesn't excuse it one bit, but there is a difference. And this does not mean that all gay men target teen boys or are perverts.

Also, there have been just as many, if not more, sex abuse cases involving school teachers, coaches, camp counselors, etc...why aren't these professions being smeared the way Catholic clergy have been?

I don't think churches-any church/religion should be in politics as I don't think you do either. All religion needs to stay out of politics or lose their non-profit status IMHO. Freedom of Religion does not constitute freedom of making ONE religion rule over the other, Islamics, muslims, extremist, fundementalists or whatever you want to call them can practice their faith w/o fear of persecution because a thing that starts "We the people of the United States of America" NOT "United Arab Emirates" or the likes. You want to take footbaths? well do that in your own home as far as I care, you don't want to eat pork? well, don't thread on my Kilbasa or Italian sausages, You don't like dogs? well, I don't like roaches either. Yeah we tolerate a few of your traditions, so do us a favor and tolerate ours.

NJkate, a while back the town of Paterson was trying to pass a ban on baggy pants. In that thread I pondered the thought that Paterson is probably NJ's largest concentration of Muslims in NJ and if that had anything to do with the ban...........I was sent to time out with the mod saying they weren't going to let me go there.
