Well, our kids aren't children anymore, ranging in age from 26 to 16. They're not interested in staycationing with mom and dad.

So my beloved suggests that she and I step back in time a quarter century to our pre-parenting days and enjoy some ...ahem... "outdoor activity." Oh my! ... Oh yes!

So tell me, fellow Jerseyans. In this most densely populated state of our union -- no pun intended -- where are those nice, private, hidden spots to take off and get on?

Surely some of you rural "westerners" have some secret spots, yes?
I do protest Wiley - OP has kids that are 16 to 26 (kids who would be mortified at the thought of this post! LOL!) So this is giving me hope that we may be on this track again one day! LOL!

He is asking for you "WESTERNERS" to help so step up to the plate! LOL

Come on - must be some place for skinny dippin' out there!

OP- am I on the right track or should I shut up? LOL

Hummm. think you're right EEEP's. Camping with vacant trails is always a good choice... Ahhh..I've got it! But it's not in NJ it's in PA. There's a road that runs parallelellelel..whatever! to Rt. 80 on the PA side. Tons of little trails coming off of that road and up into the woods. Just make sure you wear off and don't tie a steak to your arse as the bears are out in force!

JUST KEEP THIS IN MIND OP:

A missionary suddenly realized that the one thing he hadn't yet taught the natives he served was how to speak English, so he takes the chief for a walk in the jungle. He points to a tree and says to the chief, "This is a tree."
The chief looks at the tree and grunts, "Tree."
The missionary is pleased with the response. They walk a little farther and the missionary points to a rock and says, "This is a rock."
Hearing this, the chief looks and grunts, "Rock."
The missionary is really getting enthusiastic about the results when
he hears a rustling in the bushes. As he peeks over the top, he sees a couple of the natives in the midst of heavy sexual activity.
Flustered, the missionary quickly says to the chief, "Riding a bike."
The chief looks at the preoccupied couple briefly, pulls out his blowgun and kills them.
The missionary goes ballistic and yells at the chief that he has spent
years teaching the tribe how to be civilized and kind to each other.
" How could you kill these people in cold blood that way?" he demands. "My bike," the chief replied.

Yes indeed, EEEPNJ... you get the prize for best interpretation of the original post! But unlike those of Ms. Hilton, nobody would buy this videotape... so tape away! Then again, my Mrs. is super hot – whoever thought the fifties would look so good – so maybe there would be a market for the tape. Would we earn royalties?

Wrong on this one. No newlyweds here. Yet happily, my bride and I are the true exception to that "marriage-causes-reduced-activity" rule. I give her all the credit. She's my personal dynamite.

No worries here. My "bike" is my wife, and this chief have but one squaw.

Actually, we enjoy moderate hikes. Nothing excessively strenuous (we save our energy for other "activity") and no extreme sports (we like life), but hiking is surely in the repertoire. Good grub is important too. No beer though… can you figure out why!

You can hop over to Lambertville or new Hope for the day..little shopping..some great grub..live entertaiment, etc. That would be my suggestion. I'll see what I can find and get abck to you.

Hmmm... PA isn't too far. Sounds intriguing. What road is this? Yeah … this could work. A nice hike, a picnic basket, some activity, a swim at the beach on the Delaware afterwards, and a nice restaurant on the way home. It's a wrap!

Great ideas! These sound like wonderful day trips that we’ll add to our schedule for the next year or so. Thank you for the suggestions. We had intended to go to Niagara Falls, but my bride isn’t up for the car ride. More so, as chief, I agree that there are better things to ride!

This is really a fun hike and a beautiful place if you never been there. The Mohawk Mountain House, you can make a lunch reservation and they have a great lunch. If you feel like doing a beautiful hike 2 miles up with a huge payoff of a view and I mean BEAUTIFUL VIEW, look up Giant Ledge, off route 28 in the town of Big Indian, catskills. Its a great hike an easy 2 miles up and worth every minute of the views!!! BOth things are on the computer and you will have a blast and come home at night. Look these up on the computer, trust me I know outdoors and fun! THESE ARE WORTH IT AND BEAUTIFUL HIKING, WALKING AND NATURE AND CLOSE! (NY STATE not that far from NJ) can be a day trip I have done it many times and was home by 4 -5 pm

Rooms can be expensive!! I stayed there for my engagement. Its really a great place, i think its just what a couple needs to get back to fun and nature. And lunch is great!!!!
It’s our intention to check this out -- The Mohonk Preserve. Thanks for the tip.
I don’t know about the car though. Anyone care to loan us a conversion van?
