Default Rent an apartment in Hawthorne

Hi, I'm looking an apartment around Wayne area because my gf is going to attend the grad. school in William Paterson Univ.. We decide to move to Hawthorne since it looks like a safe town while the rental is kind of affordable. However, it seems some part of this town isn't so "safe" after I read a few posts. Our new apartment is Hawthorne Commons at Diamond Bridge, which is located at 144 Diamond Bridge Ave. Anybody has some idea about this neighborhood? Is it noisy? Is it safe? And is area that kind of "near Paterson" place? I really don't have so much idea about this place, any comments will be very helpful, in fact, if this place is suspicious, we may consider Wayne which is closer to William Paterson University but friends just told us there often has flooding....

If the apartment is cheaper than the Wayne apartment, it might be worth it, assuming your gf has a car to get to school. Diamond Bridge Ave is one of Hawthorne's main drags but it is also very safe. The Wayne location is probably less than a two-mile walk to the college, but with the absence of sidewalks, it might be risky to walk. Both locations are far enough away from the major Paterson crime areas that you are concerned about and wouldn't really be a factor in either case.!

Hawthorne is a very nice town. It borders Paterson, and I woulnt want to live right on the border, but its not bad at all otherwise

I don't know these particular apartments but Diamond Bridge is fine I think. That Goffle Brook, or whatever it is called, park sort of creeps me out for some reason. I think it is a little ghetto(I think lots of people from Paterson go there, as opposed to people from Hawthorne but I could be wrong), and we never went there when we lived there. We lived on Hawthorne Ave (this is funny, because it's a street that people in Hawthorne are like where the hell is that??? Normally you think of the town's named street as being a main road). I think Wayne could be potentially nicer especially if the gf is going to attend school there, she is going to be there all the time right?? Would an apartment in Wayne have flooding or are you concerned about the streets?

The drive from that Hawthorne apt to William Paterson is through Haledon , Prospect Park and maybe a little of Paterson - not my favorite towns but probably nothing to be concerned about.
