Your problem starts with the word "deserve." Why do you deserve it? Do you deserve it more than the people in Africa deserve one decent meal?

Let me channel the Geico Caveman when I say, "Uhhhhh.... WHAT?"
You feel like a victim because you make yourself a victim.
I felt the SAME EXACT WAY you did a few months ago. One of my first threads here was people trying to convince me to stay in Jersey.
With the amount of equity you have in your house, you're way, WAY more ahead of the game than I am. And you can't find a house?
It's a bad market. Life sucks. Get a helmet.
It's up to YOU to make the change. You want a better tomorrow, well, part of the American Dream is not having stuff handed to you on a silver platter.
Yeah, the state sucks. No one is denying that. But you change your fortune or get off the pot.

Sounds like someone who looks to place blame anywhere else he/she can but on themselves. It's New Jersey's fault that you have a growing family in a starter home too, right? Oh woe is me...my home, my future, my inability...it's all New Jersey's fault. Please....

samandaxo - From the comments of the other posters to your post, one would think everybody here got their tax bill today and are in a fouler than usual mood! Lighten Up everyone! Half of population of NJ have a thought like samandaxo's at least once a day! Who in NJ wouldn't want a bigger house that's more affordable? We all spend a part of the day on "Fantasy Island". Why not enjoy the ride!

Well the price plunge finally hit you. Im long gone from NJ but keep up with current events.
Welcome to the club. Most of the country is in a pretty deep recession. Some areas like Las Vegas (the worst), Phoenix, Detroit and Miami are in a DEpression. Here in Las Vegas I have lost more then 50% off my 2005 price and the actual figure may well be closer to 60%. Most of these foreclosures are selling at bank auctions at as much as 80% off their 2005 price. Is it a bargain? Nope. I know it will continue to go down quite a bit more before anything changes.
With depreciation numbers like that you can only imagine what the foreclosures are like. In Las Vegas, 1 in every 27 homes are in foreclosure. That is no misprint. 1 in every 27 homes are in foreclosure, I said it again. And Stockton CA, Phoenix, Miami are not far behind.
I sure hope for all of your sake that you dont get as bad as we are seeing now.

OUCH, sorry I offended you but I thought this was a thread about the home prices in NJ NOT feeding the hungry in AFRICA. And to answer your question...YES I do deserve the luxury of a home that I have worked hard for as do all of us who inhabit the planet.
And NO I do not expect anyone to "hand" it to me.....I left home at the age of 18 and have been paying my way since then....putting myself through 7 years of college/graduate work...working since age 18, obeying the law....going to church....paying taxes and working as an RN with indigent/mentally ill/ drug abusers....blah, blah, blah......isnt that what we were taught as children to get an education, find a profession, work hard, be honest and live comfortably.....do a tad better than our parents?????
So yeah I guess you can say I deserve to have my hard work pay off with enough of an income to purchase a nice home in a decent area with excellent schools without property taxes that are like another mortgage....dont most of us...if not then what the h*** are we doing..........I mean why put in all the effort for no payout...why do we in NJ have to struggle so hard to make ends meet....All my friends and family who live outside of NJ think I am crazy to continue to stay in the state......how pathetic is this....take the pay cut into consideration/lower housing cost/lower cost of homes/lower insurance and I will be ahead of the game but at the cost of leaving close family so I stay in my little hovel of a home
Oh and No I dont have any of Daddy's money.......but I digress.....
My father supported my mother and 3 kids on a painters salary and we lived in a beautiful area with nice schools!!!!!!AND NO NJ does not make it possible anymore for the middle class to make ends meet....this is not a foreign idea....just read the front page of any local newspaper
OH and I do not live above my means at all.......I have one VISA card and havent gone on a vacation in 2 years and then it was to Myrtle Beach in November for 600/week. So yeah I guess I will have to put on my big girl panties as well as my helmet, my shield of armour and SUCK IT UP because nothing will change until all the hard working people who keep this state functioning walk no run to the nearest border but hey thanks for all of your support, understanding and empathy....you got to love the people of Jersey!!!!!

Oh my gosh.........a voice of reason.....thank you for your support...
YES I wondered why I was being attacked too...........why so much animosity and anger????? What happended to empathy anymore.......if you people are financially better off than some of us then please DONT BELITTLE our situation and attest to know what it is like to be shut out of the real estate market.....your arrogance and hostility is alarming.... I thought this forum was supposed to be a supportive and friendly way for us to assist each other...what a joke!!!!
I frequent this forum a lot at several different states cause I expect to be forced out of NJ soon and NO WHERE ELSE do people get SMACKED as much as the NJ forum.......

Samandaxo, I grow weary of your little whine fest.
We KNOW it sucks. You want to leave, go. I won't fault you for that. But man alive, your animosity because we call you out on using the term "victim" is sickening.
"Daddy's money"? "Living in your means"? Dude, seriously - SHUT UP.
I know for a fact you can get a brand new house in Chesterfield for around 400. Taxes aren't bad and schools are decent.
You can live in South Jersey a lot easier than you can in NNJ. I mean, it's RIGHT AROUND NEW YORK CITY - what did you expect?
You either make your fortune or you don't. But don't frigging whine about it. At this point, it's a broken record.

No wonder you can't figure this out on your own, your reading comprehension is bad. I said that I bought a house in a WORSE financial situation than you, not better. And the message remains the same - stop whining and say "I deserve this" and start analyzing your situation and seeing what you can do to change it.
MLS 821168. It's in Helmetta. 419, just had a 10k price reduction. Middlesex County, 5BR, 3BA, big piece of land, Spotswood Blue Ribbon Schools.
Thank me later.
