Hmm..... That was one of my first beers, I even will buy a six of it once in a blue moon.... mor for nostalgia than real like of it. My grandfather always used to have a few six's of it on hand.

When I was actually brewing beer a few years ago (a hobby I very much enjoyed but havent really practiced in a while), I actually tried brewing a cream ale, with Genny as my model, but a few particular taste issues in mind.... like decent hops and a slightly fuller body. I actually think the end product was pretty respectable, yet well within profile.... I was pretty proud of myself.

P.S. By the way, on a semi-off topic related note.... Does anyone remember the lyrics (one set of them or another) for the old Schafer ads that had those jingles that told a story of a bad situation turning good when a Shafer was opened. The Chorus was (I think) "Hop, Hop, sitting pretty..... all together in Schafer City" and would end with the exclaimation: "Gentlemen, we are in Schafer City!"

Ahh, a beer thread. I AM home. How has no one mentioned any of the Long Trail beers?!?!? I see another Spaten fan - has anyone tried the Optimator? My husband and I went to Germany for Oktoberfest 2 years ago. I was afraid to watch the video.

When I was a freshman in HS, I got tanked on Mickey's big mouth because I was dating a freshman in college named Mickey... and he thought it was so cool to drink a beer named after him. (one drunken stupor, pukin down the highway and bang! he dumps me!)
