Default Middletown - Which sections to look in?

Hi -

I'm currently living with my wife in a townhouse in Edison. My wife teaches in Manalapan and I commute to NYC. We're both in our mid-to-late 20s and have a baby on the way (due in July) and want to move some place that has more of that 'community' feeling than we have now, but I don't want my commute to become a nightmare at the same time. We also want an area that isn't jammed with traffic 24/7 (like where we live now) and, of course, good schools for when that time finally arrives. We've read great things about Middletown, but the township seems HUGE. There are so many different sections - just wondering if anyone living there now, or who has lived there in the past has any input. We won't be looking at any of the mansions along the river! We're aiming to spend around $400k.

Thanks!

I have been looking in that area as well. There are two schools for the Middletown area - Middletown North and Middletown South. I was told by residents and real estate agents that you want to stay in communities where kids go to Middletown South since it is the superior school. Besides Middletown itself, the town of Lincroft is also linked with MTS.

Default Middletown

BIG town -- GIANT town actually, with many, diverse communities, sections and neighborhoods. Manalapan is NOT in Middletown. Manalapan is Manalapan, just as Marlboro is Marlboro. I don't think there are any bad sections in Middletown; it would just depend on what kind of people you want to be around, if you have a religious preference, more property/less property, big houses, little houses, new homes, older homes. So, if you share a little bit more than your $400K price range, I'd be happy to share what I know.
