Ice cream is one of my favorite topics! I love Torico's in Jersey City. Also someone mentioned peppermint stick - What's the Scoop in Metuchen has it! I think they are also very reasonably priced for homemade ice cream, although I definitely like Torico's better. Anyone remember the Old Barn in Pompton Lakes? I think it was Welsh Farms, not homemade, but it was an institution for years! So sad they tore it down.

Of course as someone already mentioned uo North there once was Grunnings. We also used to go with my Dad to the Sweet Cow in Manasquan but I think it is now gone. Hoffmans is pretty good, but the cow was better.

I can't believe Holsten's in Bloomfield isn't listed above. It is, by far, the best homemade ice cream and chocolate candy in NJ. Located on Broad St. in Bloomfield,,NJ

Seashell Ice Cream Parlor in Wildwood is my favorite! We stop there every year when we visit Wildwood. The ice cream is so delicious and the servings are huge!

Millstone Creamery in Millstone (in between Hillsborough and Somerset). Their ice cream is so fresh that you may need to ring their bell to bring them down from the ice cream makers upstairs. I had the mint chocolate chip recently - fresh mint!!! They were thinking of changing it to mojito chip which i think is a more accurate description.
