Recently bought a house in Morris County with propane used for cooking only. Rather than pay the extortionate rates ($6.70/gallon) and related gratuitous fees required by current propane supplier, can I buy my own tank and shop around? Since our usage is low, I assume a relatively small tank would suffice.

Anyone done this? If so can you suggest sources for tank and propane suppliers?

I'm assuming the tank is a 100lb? If so it should be about 48" high, give or take, and about 12-15" in diameter. You should be able to pick one up for about $100.

Yes you can! Actually... I saw the larger ones - cylinders in Sam's club a few months ago... Or search on-line.
I see now why they want 6.70/gallon..cooking only! Double popping you because you won't be using much..bastids!
