I am from long island and never been to the jersey shore, I plan on it this week-end, but I am looking for quiet older crowd and a family atmosphere. Which is the best beach for that? Pt pleasant?

Point Pleasant is not quiet, but it is quite family friendly. I'd suggest that you check out Spring Lake, Sea Girt, or if you're willing to take a long drive, Cape May is well, well worth it. Absolutely gorgeous, and definitely leans more towards the quiet side.

Wrong, both towns are cracking down big time on summer renters ...group summer renters,if that is your thing ...try SeaSide Hghts or Wildwood.
People are friendly in both towns ....just tired of the out of towners wrecking the place, don't blame them a bit either!

Well, neither are "diverse." Personally, I don't see that as a bad thing, but whatever. Manasquan is much friendlier and has more of a defined section where people rent houses for the summer, so you're not going to be next door to a year-rounder who "hates those damn kids who come for summer." Even Manasquan's locals (I was one growing up) are friendlier to summer folks than Belmar people are. Additionally, Manasquan cops just want everyone to be safe and have common sense, Belmar cops want to make money. Plain and simple.

Think of it this way: Manasquan renters are from Hoboken, Belmar renters are from Staten Island.
