Never heard of anyone using an appraiser, but know people that have successfully appealed..they just got a bunch of comps from similar homes in the neighborhood, did a little homework and presented it
Get an appeal form from the tax assesors office. I filled it out for my mom all I needed was the comps of homes that sold in my area. My mom got this from her friend that is a real estate agent. Going up against the board is a hit or miss. They know not many people can't put their homes on the market and have it sell fast so expect a few smart comments. But anyway she got her city appraisal down by $30k. Not much of a break. Good Luck
Has anyone used an appraiser to help appeal their property taxes? How much did they charge and did their service include testifying?
Pretty sure that the guy we hired at one time included this in his price. I don't remember where he was located but he came down to Burlington County as well as Union county. My dad was going to do this but ended up passing away

Be very careful about lowering your assessment, We as agents sometimes double check our comps by using the assessed values to compare what a home should list at. If you're selling in the near future, this may come up when an offer is being presented.
When are you planning on doing this? You are too late for this year.
We got an appraisal done and it cost around $300.
Check the rules but if you go to court and want to use your appraisal as evidence..I think the person who does the appraisal has to be there to present it.
