If he was from PA just tell him to head up to Binghamton,my old boss told me the fishing's good up there

I haven't been on the back roads in the Poconos in a long time. I haven't been to the Pittston Tomato festival in about 18 years. The Poconos are backwoodsy but the rural areas are even worse. I think they've just started giving the streets names and the houses numbers.

How did Jersey make out with the storm today. We had 1.41 inches of rain, a few power outages and some downed tree limbs.

born and bred NJ, still here...for now. contemplating a move to the Carolinas. I have traveled to the Midwest and the south. I don't find much difference in FLA big towns then I do here in Jersey. I can tell you that I was born in the Newark-Bloomfield area of NJ and moving to the Mt. Holly-Burlington area of NJ. It's a culture shock. North Jersey is very very different than West Jersey and South Jersey is even different from that. So even within the state of NJ, different regions have their own culture and dialect, North being influenced by NYC, West by Philly, Central is to their own (Nothing like a Bayonne accent and none like it in the world!)

I think NJ natives get a bad rap because we love to laugh, can be loud and are very direct. A lot of people from out of state say we have no manners, we're loud and we talk too much. I say that we are VERY mannerly, we're damn funny and we love a good conversation. I've also been told that I'm too direct and I'm nosy. What's normal conversation for NJ natives is intrusive to outsiders. But then American culture to foreigners is brash and loud and impolite and wild also. Guess it's just what you're used to.

And as far as southern hospitality? I haven't seen it yet (and I've been all over). Maybe it's just extended to those of southern roots. lololol

Rock on, NJ fine fellas and little girls.....

My mother, who lived in the bay area, was at a conference somewhere in the midwest. At dinner she was in a table full of women from Cali. The next table was loud, lots of laughter and she told me the woman next to her told her that table was the NY/NJ crowd. LOL. I think my mom had wanted to join them...

Personally I prefer the quieter types, don't know why that is. Maybe it's because I spent alot of time around country folks or that I grew up mainly around the 'neutral' central NJ types

I found that, while living there, a lot of central NJ people came from north Jersey. The people from the western part of the State were the quiet ones.

I now live in Tn and sometimes not all Jersey folks are misjudged. The peolpe are nice here , at least the ones I have met. They are differnt, quiet and a little more reserved. I kind of miss that hanging with the girls, loud and laughing , and joking about things here you don't.I know I can't be as open and blunt as in Jersey...But I do look forward to my Jersey friends e-mail jokes! I am ashamedly having fun teaching my new neighbors things I said and did in Jersey
