Default South Bridge Street in Somerville

Hey everyone, new to the forum!
I'm considering the South Bridge Gardens apartments on S. Bridge St. in Somerville. I just wanted some general info about the area as I've heard its a little sketchy on Bridge St. south of the train tracks. Is this true or is it overblown? Also if anyone has specific info about the complex itself that would be really helpful as well. I'm looking to move in with my girl friend, we're in our mid twenties and have never lived together so we just want to make sure we have a nice place in a decent area

Also, I will be commuting to NYC for work so I'm wondering if there is any other way to get to the city other than the train. Any buses within walking distance?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone? Just in general, are there bad areas of Somerville or is all relatively good?
