Cablevision sucks. We have the whole package, tv, phone and internet. I hate it and want to put my fist through everything. I never had problems with Comcast, but with Cablevision, oh my god. First of all, my phone doesn't always connect right away. I can pick up any of my 3 phones (one landline, two cordless) and dial a number and I will get nothing but silence because the call doesn't connect. I have to do this like 3 times sometimes before it registers. I know it's not my phones because they are new, as we thought it was the old one and threw it out, and bought expensive ones! God forbid there's an emergency and you need to call 911, you waste more time sitting there making the attempt than you would if you jumped in your car and drove to the ER.

My next complaint are with the tv and internet. At any given time, they will decide just to "not work". I can turn on my computer and get "no internet connection" or be in the middle of something and that happen. I know it's not the computer because 1. I spent a lot of money on a MAC so I wouldn't have problems and 2. The TV does it as well. Two nights ago the kids were watching TV and it clicked and that blue screen popped up that we had no connection, or whatever it says. My husband yelled at me thinking I didn't pay the bill, but I paid it about a week or so ago. So after 20 minutes, the TV decided that it wanted to turn back on on its own. Random.

Lastly (but I'm sure not least), I always have problems if I'm speaking to someone who also has Cablevision. For example, I can talk to anyone who doesn't have it for hours without any problems on any given day or time. Yet, I can call my cousin or my b/f, who both have Cablevision, and whether it's 2 seconds or 20 minutes into the conversation, it hangs up. Sometimes it clicks and hangs up, sometimes there's bad static and hangs up and sometimes, this is my favorite, you can be mid-sentence and get either a dial tone or busy signal (no forewarning or clicking or anything). And it only happens to each of us if we're talking on the line with someone else who has Cablevision.

I loathe Cablevision. Thanks for letting me vent

Very happy to be done with our old cable provider and their Gestapo tactics!
For 100$ month do you get HBO/Showtime etc? How many TV's in your house? I think I need to call for a price. It's sounding like this Verizon FIOS is the real deal.

We have 3 TVs, the boxes cost $5 each/per month, but I refused to pay for more than one so the installation guy said OK and left us 3 anyway. We do not have HBO/Showtime but I have yet to look at the numerous stations (197) we do have. My daughter is totally impressed with all the music channels.

We were just so glad to ditch Comcrap, who blacked out all of our NY stations, in an effort to force their program on us after years of raising rates and limiting our service.

Funny story-couple of Sundays ago, I was doing paperwork on my computer, watching TV, daughter in her room watching TV, on her computer. Storm comes up, pretty intense, next door neighbours' house is hit by lightening, huge fire ball in their yard and loads of damage to their home.
We didn't lose any service.

I'm not sold on this service, but it is better than what we had, if someone comes up with a better, cheaper provider, I'd switch in a heart beat.
But for now....FIOS is working ok.
Cut your best deal....there is finally some competition!
