I wouldn't consider Philly, Baltimore, Trenton at all if you want safety...

If you still want to live in the city proper your only best bet is on the fringes of Hamilton! Seriously. I am trying to think of one even faintly safe area there now...Anyone know about present Mill Hill? It was part of a revitalization project decades ago and was very colonial in style. It was redone and yuppies moved in (I hate that term). Row houses of red brick, cobblestone sidewalks and some streets--but even then, the problem was that you didn't dare venture out of the district.
So if anyone is knows what present Mill Hill is like, please respond. But seriously, I can't think of one really decent place in Trenton that is left. Shame, it's so rich in history and in a beautiful (geographically speaking) location.

Mill Hill is very nice, and I have never heard of any crime being committed in that district. I'm sure things happen but by and large it is peaceful. There is definitely a very nice class of folks there. Homefronts are kept very nice, decorated and clean. There are nice cars parked in front of homes. The police patrol frequently.
I am slowing working on a photo tour of Trenton. Here is a sneak peak, some photos of Mill Hill.

Great!
I'm so happy to see that Mill Hill has survived and is thriving.
Would you let me know when you complete your photo tour? I would be very interested!

Who can we blame for the down fall of trenton Italians , polish ( brunswick ave polish section the nicest in the city ,And the burg When it was italian awsome I grew up there im 35 . The last generation of italians that guarded that area ( you see what happen when the guards left) Now lets look at the rest of the city that was always bad , but now encompasses the whole city .. MINORITIES o no he said it hes a racist now everyone will say. Proof is in the pudding every area that was not minority was Nice low crime no boarded up houses NO DRUG DEALERS ON THE CORNER , NO GANGS,clean and safe I know i lived in the burg and used to run around the streets as a kid always safe. I would not walk around there now. We all know what happen to the learning disabled kid Joey who walks all over the burg 4 or 5 young black gang member punks beat him so bad he lost sight in one of his eyes, A retarded kid they beat. It was on the front of all the news papers. Never would of happened 15 years ago they would not even think of coming into the burg when i was a teenager we would have baseball batted there a s s e s back to the projects. all of my friends got good paying jobs and moved out because we would not send our kids to trenton high and could not afford private school. And the older italians HAD to sell to anyone. And in came the ****. Now I have friends that are black and spanish they are not ghetto rat gang punks They are normal people of a different race accually my best friend like my brother is black and he hates those gang punks more than me. And every thing i said im sure sounds racist but it is the facts my neighborhood was ruined and i will never be able to take my kid walking around there and he will miss what i had growing up it that awsome neighborhood so yes i have some hate. Rember its not the area its the people take all the people from princeton or hamilton and move them into the bad area in trenton and move everyone from there to princeton or hamilton and overnight Trenton will be safe and nice and those area will be considered high crime bad or what ever you want to call them. I love when i hear someone say look where we have to live i say it was nice til you moved here ..

forum trenton
Hi,
I have been to Trenton as that is where the train stops when I go to my sisters. She lives in Yardley PA - over the river. I grew up in NJ. I would avoid Trenton - although I realize someone said Mill Hill is ok - perhaps that area is. I would not want to live in Trenton. It is a high crime area and overall looks dingy. There are nicer areas across the river in PA. Doylestown, Newtown, Morrisville. Yardley is expensive.

Speaking the truth is not racist. I grew up in South Trenton off of Lalor Street. All Polish people. St. Stanislaus and Holy Cross were the two churches in that section. Some very poor (like my family) but no matter what they made sure their houses and outside property was spotless. And the whole neighborhood looked out for us kids. One big extended family.
Then the Italian section over in Chambersburg--with St. Joachim's at its hub. Does anyone know if the Italian Peoples Bakery is still there? It was unbeatable for its products. People would go out of their way to buy stuff there. Cars would be double parked all the time as people ran in for bread, pastry etc. and nobody ever got a ticket cuz the cops would be doing it too! Love those cannolis!
Gosh, I really do miss the Trenton of decades ago.

I believe Italian Peoples Bakery is still open on Butler St. in the Burg. They also have other locations in the area.
Just read in todays Trenton Times that Marsilio's restaurant is closing in the fall.....after 56 years
