And yet the school still can't make it anywhere close to the top 20. Only just made it into the top 50.

There is a HUGE difference between the average SAT score of Milburn at 1830 and Mooretown at 1657. Huge.

A few years ago MHS student Blair Hornstine sued the school over being named co-valedictorian because she was home schooled. It was a national story because she was headed to Harvard; the article also interviews the recent valedictorian at MHS; she is headed to MIT.

MHS and Millburn are also huge rivals athletically. MHS is the reigning Group III state award winner for best athletic department as recognized by ShopRite cup:

Northern NJ attitude? What on Earth are you talking about? If MHS being a feeder school is a "fact" please show me the facts- show me the percentage of high school graduates from MHS that go to the Ivy Leagues. Easy enough. A link highlighting two field hockey players from Moorestown and an article about a valedictorian going to Harvard are nice, but they are instances, not facts.

Unfortunately, until you provide legitimate facts showing what you are claiming, you are not going to make any points whatsoever. Of course Moorestown is a great high school, I dont think anyone here is debating that. Where the debate lies is that you are throwing out baseless facts that Moorestown is better than this list says and we just want to know why?

A valedictorian going to the Ivies doesnt not a feeder school make. A field hockey player playing in the Ivies does not a high school make. Show me, show us where Moorestown stands in percentage of students that go to the Ivies relative to other schools on this list and THEN we can talk.

And don't even bring "Northern NJ bias" up- requesting information is far from a bias. What if I were to say you have a Southern NJ bias because you think that Moorestown is better than it shows on the list and for no good reason? Don't think you would like that one bit.

You guys are uneducated on the issues. MHS has ranked in the Top 10 in NJ. And rankings are not gospel especially with the change in SATs this year and methodology to compute the rankings. Don't blame me for your ignorance.

I repeat - can we say that they are ALL good schools?

You know, we complain ( a lot ) around here... but NJ schools, as a whole, are really pretty darn good. Outside of the worst districts, your kids will get a good education. If you are in the top 100, you're doing even better. Top 50, like one poster said - you're really doing great....

Again, no one is debating the quality of the school, I just dont think its beneficial to throw out false or baseless "facts."

Growing up in a town next to Ridgewood, I remember reading that parents were using Ridgewood addresses just to get their kids into the Ridgewood School system. They finally caught on after years! It is an excellent school system there and a great town. I loved hanging out there as an older teen and shopping their as an adult. Lots of charm in that town.

Just because it once ranked in the top 10 doesn't mean a thing. It's where it ranks now that matters. It's ok though for you to be mad. I would be too if I thought my town was the greatest but its high school could only manage a 50th place finish. LOL.

MR only believes methodologies that put M'town in the Top 10, the rest are bogus, doncha know?

M'town ranked 19th in 2004, 63 in 2006, 47th in 2008. It didn't make the top 1000 for Newsweek. I couldn't find anything else. I'd be interested in when M'town ranked 10th.

The "rah rah Moorestown" is a bit too much - reminds me of the incessant Piscataway cheerleader.
