Let me know if you want/need fireworks. My daughter went to Ohio a few years ago and brought back a box of fireworks.. why a kid at 11 or 12 needed fireworks, I have no clue. We've lit some but still have the bulk. I could send it up that way with hubby Monday.

We don't want there to be any hard feelings or for him to see people measuring and have to wonder what's going on. The other neighbor wanted to check with us to see if it was ok that they cut branches off of our tree that are hanging over their property. It's not necessary but I think this is a nicer way to live.
That's the problem.. while you're discussing it with your neighbor, this guy isn't, he just dug in without letting Wiley know that he's doing this to make it like that.

The fact that she has a for sale sign up is even more reason for him to speak to her & the B&C. Think about it, he was just house shopping, would he buy a house where this was going on?

In Gaelic folklore, hawthorn (in Scottish Gaelic, Sgitheach and in Irish, sceach) 'marks the entrance to the otherworld' and is strongly associated with the fairies.[5] Lore has it that it is very unlucky to cut the tree at any time other than when it is in bloom, however during this time it is commonly cut and decorated as a May Bush (see Beltane).[6] This warning persists to modern times; it has been questioned by folklorist Bob Curran whether the ill luck of the De Lorean Motor Company was associated with the destruction of a fairy thorn to make way for a production facility.[7]
The thing about ill luck.. who exactly would it come to, the owner or his crew?

I'm sorry about the birds, that really upsets me. I can imagine the poor little things flying around, they're so confused.

What's the plan now? IMO (not sure if you want it lol) I would tell him he needs to replace the trees he cut down (on your property) with mature trees. Since he's "in the business" he probably knows where to get them but if he doesn't or if you're interested, where my hubby fishes by exit 8 there are a few fields where they sell mature trees. It's a nice drive if you the the B&C aren't doing anything. I can have Charlie give you directions. Let me know, either via email or DM if you want them.

You can also tell him that you're going to get the trees and have someone put them in, giving him the bill.

What makes no sense is that he just bought the house, didn't they survey the property and mark it?

Keep us posted. I'm going to be upset all day especially since it's going to storm & those poor birds are without their homes.

What variety of Hawthorne were they? Looking at google, it appears there are different kinds. White flower that turns pink then has red berries? Sounds pretty.

F'ing people are rude.

Hawthornes are the white flowers that turn pink then berries for the birds. I have a few hundred more on my side and I'm hoping the little birdies migrated over there. Not one sign of the mocking birds this morning. I've had this family for almost 5 yrs! They are like my pets..lol : ) They fly around me and make noise when their bird bath is empty. We have a few landscaping places out here with mature trees but I'm not spending thousands on trees again this year. Looking into his backyard isn't as bad as the openess we have now to our neighbor to the right. Guess I'll have to wait and see what he does... otherwise I'm pulling Hawthornes from my field and replanting them along the back property line. I planted a dozen or so last year along the line...he cut 2 of those down and was heading for the others until I stood on the deck watching them like a hawk! I hope he does put a berm in... I get alot of runoff from his side - it'll end up being a mote on his side now : )))) What is it with all these berms! Neighbor to the right put one in and now the neighbor to the back putting them in... I'm going to rename my place - Fort Friggin Frelinghuysen!
I'll keep you posted and if you don't hear from me again..send me a cake with a file in it to the nearest prison : )
