Hi we are thinking about moving to the sussex area and would like to know about shopping , schools and other info you could provide us with. We lived in Ny for our whole lives but the property taxes got out of control and we moved to the Northwest, for the last 2 years, but we are missing everyhing about the east coast. so we are looking in NJ
How are the children there are the girls very cliique as I have a 16 yr old daughter who would be stating the jr. in HS and we are a little concerned. Is there roller hockey leauges, my 11 yr old son is big into ice hockey and roller.
Are there alot of lakes around the area. Like I said any info. would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Pretty much all high schools are very clique-y; I think it is just the nature of adolescents and teenagers. Sussex County is nice, I grew up there and visit regularly, have a lot of family there. Shopping...there's the mall in nearby Rockaway township, Newton has a WalMart and ShopRite, Lafayette Village in Lafayette has some nice outlets, and most towns have little, privately owned stores with whatever you might want. Schools are overall good. Honestly as long as you aren't looking at inner-city areas, all the schools in New Jersey are good to excellent. There are definitely of lakes in Sussex County...Swartzwood Lake in Swartzwood and Lake Mohawk in Sparta immediately come to mind.

We love living in Sussex County. Beautiful, very rural, not overbuilt with the typical NJ strip malls that go on mile after mile. Like the previous poster said, you've got a few Wlamarts, Home Depots etc. but in a half hour, 45 minutes or so you can be at a shopping mall. My wife and I wouldn't live anywhere else in NJ.
