Wow. I would have expected better of someone who got so inflamed over immigration and diversity.
A) Its the best part of Newark, imho.
B) It smells like city, not "smelly pork".
C) I'm not Portuguese, neither is my brother (for obvious reasons). Our Irish whiteness has no problems there whatsoever. Hell, we go out to dinner at various places for birthdays and such, there is incredible food. On of my ex's parents own a smaller restaurant I want to visit, see how they are doing.
In other words, thats a boatload of crap right there in one sentence.

Back in my teenager years I worked for a portuguese bakery on Ferry St & Kossuth St in the Ironbound section, never had a problem in that area and I always felt that it was a great place to visit w/ all the restaurants and the festival in the summer (June). Would you feel like an outsider? well only if you choose to be one.

Do any of you live there? Relax and don't get so friggin offended. I hung out there too, and dated a few girls from there and had a few friends from there. Nobody said you can't hang out there. Hell, it's a great place to hang out -- the girls are hot as hell. The point being made here is about LIVING THERE. I'm half-Hispanic and I (along with others) simply stated that if you are not Brazilian or Portuguese and you LIVE in the Ironbound, you'll feel like an outsider. I don't think this is news or that I'm breaking any headlines here. It is the best section of Newark (though that's not saying much) and I happen to like it, but that doesn't mean it's a diverse section -- IT'S NOT. You can probably count the number of solely White or Black residents there on two hands. Now, if you're White or Black and LIVE in the Ironbound and would like to disagree with me, then have it. This would be the first time I've heard otherwise.

There are better parts of Newark? I have always heard people say that that is suppose to be the "good" part of Newark.

Its the same they stick together. I do not see anything wrong with your statement.

That would be several of my friends. They are on the job in Newark, Ironbound section was their choice. They have no problems there whatsoever...

I'm actually glad to hear that. I personally have always liked that section.

On the job (cops?) or do they live there?
Personally I like the Ironbound, especially when I'm hungry.
