Default Keansburg better than Union Beach

Why don't you take a peek next door in Union Beach. It's also a small town and there's virtually no crime.
Union Beach has a lot of storefronts boarded up on the highway. Also lots of bungalows in Union Beach. Union Beach lacks a town area and things to do. Keansburg is definitely a better choice than Union Beach!

Default Keansburg is like a 5-star resort compared to Bayonne

The schools them selves I would say are decent from the outside, and the the cafe food horrible. Now to answer your question about the middle aged woman in keansburg, I would say more or less where it is that you move in keansburg. Anything from Main st. and over towards Laurel ave I would never choose to live. I think that is where all the so called wanna be gangsta's live at. The best thing about the town I will say is the amusment park, it has been here for years and that is the biggest attraction of keansburg. During the summer it gets crazy and on Hollidays. 4th of July forget about it you have no parking. Now when it comes to the snowy season, they dont ever put rock salt on the streets, it is nothing but dirt or sand on the streets. An that is only if they even decide on doing your street. The taxes in the town or somewhat high. An that is for a home in keansburg. Everything thing else out of the area I would consider, and only if you have to keep keansburg as last on your list. But if you are looking for a cheap area to live I guess the (BURG) would be it. I hope that you take this note into consideration. Write back to me if you want to know more about the (BURG)
I would never raise a family in Bayonne. Its highly unsafe to walk the streets of Bayonne. Lots of Gangs in Bayonne. High taxes in Bayonne. Oh my, I would only live in Bayonne if I had no kids and wanted to be close to New York City. Keansburg is an old beach town but quite safe and low taxes!

I'm in a town that borders it. As someone mentioned above, it had a terrible rep in the 80s. Probably has gotten better, but it's not there quite yet.
Sounds like it had a bad reputation in the 80's as you say...cause old memories seem hard to die. I moved here a year and half ago and bought a house and I love it. I am close to shopping, the beaches, NYC. And I think this town has more positives and negatives just like the surrounding towns. All in all I would brag about the positives about the entire bayshore and all its towns! I think the bayshore from Keyport down to the highlands is the best place to live in New Jersey, if you still want to commute to NYC.

Keansburg, for a town its size, and for a NJ shore town, has more crime than it ought to, and it's not as nice as it ought to be. Having said that, I would not consider it unsafe. Unfortunately for Keansburg, it is surrounded by very expensive, very nice towns, with a lot of new construction, which makes Keansburg seem a little dumpy. But there's nothing really wrong with it. It is a great area to live in; plenty of job opportunity, plenty of recreation, superclose to the beach and not from from NYC.
According to those statistics, I think Keansburg has low crime. If your basing it on per person to the act of crime relative to its population, any crime would make it looks like a high crime area. Thats quite unfair since the town is only 1 square mile. I have a co-worker who moved to Bucks County PA. There is more crime in his suburbia bucks county town of Easton PA than there is in Keansburg!

Police report more street gang activity
Posted by Paul Cox June 27, 2007 6:05AM
Categories: Bergen County, Crime/Courts
Roughly 40 percent of North Jersey municipalities have a significant youth street gang presence within their communities, authorities said Tuesday, according to a report in the Record.

Statewide, Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes said about 45 percent of police departments have reported gang activity in their jurisdictions -- up from 33 percent in 2004.

"If you've got a gang presence, you've got a gang problem," Fuentes told 300 or so attendees at a New Jersey Gang Summit conference at Brookdale Community College in Monmouth County.

I copied and pasted that from the Star ledger. I give facts, not rumors. As the article states, nearly half the towns this year have reported gang activity in New Jersey. So again, your spreading your own rumors. Keansburg is a very safe town. I would not be suprised though if there were reports of gang activity in some of the bad sections of the surrounding towns of Keansburg. Some of the surrounding towns have sections that look so bad... they make parts of Keansburg look very high class! Again gang activity is nearly prevalent in half the towns of New Jersey

keansburg is a dump, keansburg and high class is an oxymoron and don't even belong together in the same book let alone the same sentence.
if you like it there that's great but it is not anything like other towns in the area and there is a serious disconnect from reality if anyone thinks keansburg is anything like holmdel, hazlet, middletown or even union beach, all towns that border the 'burg
As for the prosecuter's gloom and doom speech, he has to make it look bad, the inference of crime keeps funds coming into his office.
There's a bit of naivete on display here when it comes to real estate and politics, maybe after being in the 'burg awhile those rosy glasses will be in better focus

Personally I shopped for houses in the neighboring towns. I thought Union Beach was a complete dump, there is nothing there, no town area, nothing on the beach, no real entertainment, and everything along the stretch of Union Beach on Route 36 is boarded up. Keansburg is a much better choice than Union Beach. Hazlet has some bad areas and some good areas, I have nothing against Hazlet, but you can't compare Keansburg and Hazlet, they are different towns with different positives, I just had a preference of being near the water more. I also heard Holmdel has some old sections too and some very nice areas, also have nothing against the town but I wanted a more beach-like town. Middletown has some very nice areas, but when I shopped for houses there along the water, many of the streets would flood. Again I just liked Keansburg for what it has. All in all I love the entire bayshore and route 35 for its shopping. I have encountered upper class people moving into Keansburg. I think this town has tons of opportunity and positives!

Default Keansburg friendly

I lived here a year and half, and I can't find anything to complain about in Keansburg. Yes, its quite an old town. The town is very safe. It's very comfortable to walk outside to whatever you may need in town for small items, etc. The beach, boardwalk, entertainment, there is so much for a one square mile town. Sometimes you can just jump on your bike and go about doing things. My neighbors are so friendly, even get several invites to eat over, share cook-outs, etc. People say hi when they see you in town. I grew up in the rich town of Monroe, where some people were rude and unfriendly, and just like most towns, drugs and car theft could be found. Keansburg, is a like a little town community and its hard to find that anymore. I'm happy that the boardwalk amusements continue making investments in new rides and etc. So much new construction going on and the town needs that. Ugrades of streets and storefronts, walk areas and the beach stretch is looking nicer and nicer. I'll admit it looks like this town must have been in bad shape at one time... but its definitely on the upswing now. The new luxury condo's with fine dining and retail shopping are coming in... and I heard there are a lot of developers vying to get in here. Regardless of the past and I'm sure Keansburg had some rough times but why keep looking back! so many good things coming here and to talk about in Keansburg

Default Keansburg is A "Dog Of NJ RealEstate"

I live in K-Town. Have Had NO Issues with Crime. As a MATTER of fact it is 1 of a Handfull of towns in NJ, where I can run into a corner store and LEAVE my car RUNNING with the windows Down. I can walk the street at night, SAFELY. ON and ON.
As far as "Dogs of RealEstate", it is a WALLSTREET investing Scheme. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is the average price of 30 Stocks. Every year MUTUAL FUNDS BUY the "DOGS of the DOW". These are the 10 WORST performing stocks for the past year that they BUY ( Thus DOGS ).
Anyway,
REAL ESTATE is the Same, it is a cycle, what was once a DOG, can and over time will become a PRINCESS.
Will it become MONTVILLE/ Spring Lake, NO.
Success in Real Estate =

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Walk to BUS, 1 Mile to FERRY to NYC, 1 Mile to Train ON and ON
JOBS maintain housing Prices. Keansburg is RIGHT in the MIDDLE of the LARGEST METROPOLITAN area in the U.S.
SPRAWL
Finally,
ALL these Bayshore towns with 100 year old/ 1000 SqFT Bungalows will be REPLACED in the future with 1 year New 3000 sqft homes.

Themes, Dreams, and Schemes
