So yea if your looking for a really safe environment and great school and dont care about ****in racist bastards then Hasbrouk Heights is great.
Not sure where you get your information from, but that seems like an untrue story or a freak one time thing. I grew up in the area (Wood-Ridge/Hasbrouck Heights border) and althought it is predominately white area, there was always a few black, spanish and indian kids growing up and I have never seen any race riot over it. At my schools they were treated just fine. Sure you can't guarantee there was never any teasing, but most kids of all races get teased at some point for something , but nothing like you're describing. Extremely low crime rate.

Hey,
Hasbrouck Heights is a great family town. It's the best town to raise kids in & it has an excellent school system. Good luck.

shyrina- im interested in what u found with that apt. im looking to move up north as well and i have a young son to consider. i find it completely impossible to find apts in the press, ledger, times. i looked on craigslist but didnt see anything. some of these good towns arent even on the radar i guess for the apt listings in the local papers. if u found a nice apt in a complex or home id love to know about it and get an idea of the community there. thanks so much. hope u had good luck
