Hi!! We're very interested in renting a single family house on New Street, blocks away from Bloomfield Ave and Bay Street, in Montclair. It would be myself, my husband, and our son, who is 12. We currently live in Bayonne and like it there, but saw this place and fell in love!!

I have heard that the schools in Montclair are great. Is anyone familiar with this area of Montclar? Is this a decent area, how is the crime, etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Montclair is a mixed bag, it has rich areas but it also has poor areas as well. New Street is not on the good side of town. I live kinda close to New Street, in neighboring Glen Ridge (the difference between GR and Montclair is extreme). There are a lot of drugs in that area, Avoid that whole area all together, you could find much better in Montclair.
