Delaware Valley, between Milford and Lambertville. Stockon, Frenchtown, that area.

Bucks and Northampton County are essentially NJ in look and feel. Throw in most of Monroe County for good measure.

My grandpa built homes back in the 40's, 50's and early 60's. He built a TON in upper Bergen, my grandmother refused to leave JC. Everytime I pass a home he could have just moved into in Oradell, Northvale, Cresskill... I want to puke.

This was a good post- thought I would add to it.

If money was no object then I would live in Red Bank (with my son). Not too far from where I am now. Maybe someday if it's stays nice.

I know this is an older thread but I read it today and started to think a bit. Many towns mentioned here are great, some better than others but it doesn't matter the town or the area. IMO some towns only have "name" prestige while there are many others who go unnoticed or simply have a stigma for been too diverse. Recently I felt nostalgic and found myself looking at lake fronts and found this little place, a 2 bedroom cabin, w/ a stone fireplace, a small kitchen, cozy living room. Mind you, there's nothing "nice" about it, but it was the feeling of peacufullness and relaxation that drew me to it. Working close to the city, I feel/hear the city noises, the cars, the trucks, the people, everyone on top of each other, wasting time tryng to find a parking spot, not having time for anything, everything in a rush. Last friday's commute was a nightmare and it's just a small example of the exasperation*sp that sometimes I feel. Sometimes I wish to give it all up for a moment of tranquility. Someday I'll go back to my motto.....Simplicity works.
